introduction:
A fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) can be created by an alkali catalyzed reaction between fats or fatty acids and methanol. The molecules in biodiesel are primarily FAMEs, usually obtained from vegetable oils by trans-esterification. Fatty Acid methyl easter is a material to synthesize quality surfactants and an important intermediate for organic synthesis. It is a mutual solvent with oil and fat and possesses the features of low viscosity .So Adipic acid monomethyl ester is widely used in emulsifier products. In cosmetic industry, it can be used as solvent of perfume and brightening agent of shampoo. It also can be used as greasing agent and lubricant of leather.
Application:
As an important chemical intermediate, fatty acid methyl ester is widely applied to leather and daily-use chemical industries
and can be further transformed into other esters, esterified-ammonia, esterified-sulfonic salt and high-carbon fatty acid, etc.. In the leather chemical industry, it is used to produce the leather fat-liquoring agent and sulfonic-succinate acyclic acyl ether disodium, serving as a promising textile detergent. If hydrogenised, it can be used for preparation of high-carbon fatty alcohol which is one of indispensable raw materials for the production of cosmetics and perfume, and for preparation of plasticizer, detergent and surface-active agent (MES), among which MES is a floatation agent for mining. If saponified and acidified, it can be deoxidized into mixed fatty acid for soap and paint production. Fatty acid methyl ester can also serve as a raw material of bio-diesel which is a new environment-friendly energy source.
